Happy New Year everyone! What a pleasure it is to ring in the new year and to anticipate the year ahead in real estate.
The last 2 weeks real estate has been pretty quiet, as would be expected over the holidays. However, real estate still happened. In the last 2 weeks 6 properties came onto the market, 9 moved to pending status, and there were 10 closed sales.
When people ask me about buying or selling over the holidays, I like to share a story that I experienced a few years ago. I had a listing in Lake Oswego down near the Willamette River. The owner of the house was a single man. He was meticulous with the house being clean and beautiful. On new year’s day he decided to go skiing. Unlike his usual habits, he left some dirty laundry on the bathroom floor. He just didn’t think that the house would be shown on new year’s day. Well, of course the house was shown. Not only was it shown, but we got an offer and the house went into pending status. My client was mortified that he had left laundry on the floor, but he was thrilled to get his house sold. Real Estate does happen all-year round. It never stops.
