Holiday Safety Tips

The month’s Hello LO has a great article with safety tips for the holidays that I decided to share.

For Shopping and Receiving Deliveries

  • Deter porch pirates by bringing packages inside as soon as you can.
  • Go to the USPS website and sign up for a daily digest of what is being delivered.
  • If traveling, ask a neighbor to keep an eye on your house and arrange to have the mail stopped while you are gone.
  • Don’t display gifts where they can be seen from outside.
  • When shopping, park in a well-lit area and do not leave bags and packages where they can be seen if someone looks into the car.

Fire Safety

  • Use flameless, battery operated candles.
  • Keep lit candles 12 inches away from anything flamable. Blow them out when you leave.
  • Stay in the kitchen when cooking on the stove top.
  • Make the 3-foot zone around the stove kid free.
  • Keep your natural Christmas tree well watered and take it down when it dries out.
